The Energy Shift: How One Moment Can Change Your Day

I remember a few years ago, right after the world started reopening, I dipped my toes back into the world of live coaching with a 3-day masterclass.

Excited is an understatement!

I was pumped for two reasons:

  1. I love training and coaching—it fills me up in ways nothing else can.
  2. We had a ton of people signed up, and the energy was buzzing!

This masterclass was set for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, an hour each day.

Simple enough, right?

Tuesday’s energy was electric. The focus, the engagement—it was off the charts! I left the session on such a high. I was riding a wave of enthusiasm and momentum.

And then came Wednesday…

I felt a shift.

The energy just wasn’t there, not like the day before.

My focus slipped, and the engagement wasn’t as crisp. I couldn’t shake the fog that clouded my head.

By Thursday, though, everything snapped back into place! Energy high, focus sharp—just like Tuesday.

So what happened that Wednesday?

Here’s what I realized:

That morning, I met with a policewoman to report a criminal incident. It was serious, unsettling, and quite frankly, it rattled me.

Tuesday and Thursday, though? Those were the mornings I started off with a swim and a relaxing soak in the jacuzzi.

Talk about a contrast!

As it turns out, I wasn’t able to brush off the negative energy from that incident. It clung to me, impacting not just my mood but my focus and how I showed up that day.

And I didn’t realize it!!!

It was a wake-up call for me about how much our external world, if left unchecked, can influence our internal world.

So, I asked myself the all-important question: What could I have done differently?

I love this question because it opens the door to possibility.

Here’s what I came up with:

  • Do some yoga breaths. Deep, cleansing breaths to clear my mind and ground myself.
  • Go for a brisk walk. Movement can be magical for releasing tension.
  • Listen to a high-energy song and dance in the kitchen. Nothing like music to shift your vibe instantly!
  • Journal it out. Sometimes, you just need to put pen to paper and let all the tension flow away.

Now, I have a question for you:

What do you do (or what would you have done) in a situation like this?

I ask because it’s so important to remember that our thoughts and energy matter. They shape how we show up, how we feel, and ultimately, how we perform.

So, let’s start a conversation: How do you reset your energy when something outside of your control tries to shake you?

"The Marketing Maven!"

What others are saying...

"Within weeks after working with Ruth I had built my business structure, created the first level of pricing, and was taught how to target my perfect clientele. I went from charging $450 to $10,000 per client - a 2,000% increase!"
