How to Stay Top of Mind (and Why It Matters More Than Ever)
Yesterday, I added more dates and times for people to connect with me for complimentary Clarity Sessions.
A few hours later, an email came through my scheduling app. A woman had just booked a session.
She shared that she’d been looking for someone to help her market her book, grow her business brand, and expand her visibility so she could attract more book sales, speaking engagements, and recognition for her work.
Here’s where it gets interesting…
Earlier that week, her mentor told her, “You’re about to meet the perfect person to help you.”
And she did.
Why? Because I was top of mind.
The Blurred Lines Between Publicity and Marketing
In the last ten years, the line between publicity and marketing has completely blurred, and thank goodness for that.
What once lived in separate worlds (press releases and TV spots versus newsletters and social media) has now merged into one powerful visibility ecosystem.
Today, a great marketing strategy includes:
- Writing articles that showcase your expertise.
- Guesting on podcasts that align with your message.
- Speaking on stages that connect you with ideal audiences.
- Creating video and social content that keeps you in the conversation.
Some call these publicity. Others call them marketing.
I call them momentum.
A True Story About the Cost of Invisibility
On the same day this woman found me, I was searching for someone who could help me fix a Zoom issue. I remembered her face, her voice, and the quality of her work. But I couldn’t remember her name.
I scrolled through emails, social media, and contacts. Nothing. She hadn’t stayed in touch.
If she had sent even one simple email, something that said, “Here’s what I’m up to, here’s who I help, and here’s how to reach me”, I would have hired her again immediately.
But she was invisible.
And invisibility costs far more than people realize.
Why Staying Visible Matters
Visibility isn’t vanity, it’s service.
When you show up, you’re saying, “I’m here to help. I’m ready to serve.”
Every email, podcast, and post plants a seed of trust.
And when the timing is right, when someone is ready to buy, book, or connect, you’re the one they remember.
Here’s a simple truth from marketing psychology:
There are four categories of buyers in your audience:
1️⃣ The 3% ready to buy today.
2️⃣ The 20% actively searching for a solution.
3️⃣ The 25% who know they’ll need it at some point.
4️⃣ The 45% who don’t even know yet that they need what you offer.
And here’s the beauty of a book: it reaches all four.
Think about Mel Robbins and her book Let Them.
Even people who didn’t think they needed it, or didn’t even know about it, have now heard about it from someone they trust.
That’s what happens when you become top of mind.
Your Book + Your Brand = Your Visibility Engine
When you write a book and communicate consistently with your community, something magical happens:
- You stop chasing opportunities, and they start finding you.
- You stop wondering if you’re relevant, and start realizing you are the authority.
- You stop blending in, and start standing out as the thought leader you’re meant to be.
Your book is more than words, it’s your business card, your PR engine, your trust builder, and your credibility anchor.
I’m opening up a few complimentary Clarity Sessions to help you find ways to become more visible and top of mind.
