Clear, Compelling Thought Leadership Begins With Heart
A few weeks ago, I had the honor of serving as Master of Ceremonies for the Judy Lopez Memorial Award, a beautiful celebration recognizing extraordinary authors writing for children and young readers.
It was one of those evenings that stays with you.
Not because of the stage.
Not because of the recognition.
But because of what it revealed.
One of the honorees, Hope Anita Smith, was recognized for her book The Way a Door Closes, written for ages 8 to 12. Her work touched so many hearts in the room.

And then something quiet, simple, and profound happened.
My grandson Brayden was standing nearby, gently flipping through one of the books. Hope noticed him.
Without hesitation, she walked over, purchased the book, and surprised him with it.
No announcement.
No spotlight.
Just a moment of genuine generosity.
And in that moment, everything about thought leadership became crystal clear again.
The Heart Behind the Message
We often talk about visibility, messaging, positioning, and platform.
But behind every book…
Every talk…
Every piece of content…
There is a human being who cares deeply.
And that care is what people feel.
It is what makes a message land.
It is what creates connection.
It is what turns words into impact.
Thought leadership is not just about being seen.
It is about being felt.
And that kind of presence cannot be manufactured.
It comes from alignment between who you are… and what you share.
Where Real Momentum Begins
Over the past few months, my team and I have been reflecting on how we can continue to support our community in a deeper, more meaningful way.
Not just with strategy.
But with spaces that allow you to reconnect with your voice, your message, and your next level.
Because clarity does not come from doing more.
It comes from creating space to hear what is already within you.

Creating Space for Your Voice
Inside our Writer’s Group, I see this happen every week.
People arrive with ideas, uncertainty, and sometimes even hesitation.
And then, within a focused, supportive environment, something shifts.
They begin writing again.
They reconnect with their message.
They move forward.
Whether it is a TEDx talk, a book, a social media strategy, or a signature talk, the work begins to take shape.
Not through pressure.
But through presence and consistency.
The Power of Follow-Through
And then there is the next step.
Because visibility does not end when the meeting does.
That is often where it begins.
Through The Follow-Up Factor, I have seen how many opportunities already exist within conversations people have started… but never completed.
Follow-up is not about pushing.
It is about honoring the connection that is already there.
It is about closing loops, deepening trust, and allowing momentum to continue.
A Final Reflection
That moment with Hope and my grandson stayed with me.
Because it was a reminder that the most powerful messages are not just heard.
They are felt.
And when your work comes from that place, it creates something far beyond visibility.
It creates connection.
It creates impact.
It creates legacy.
