The Hidden Treasure in Follow-Up

I’ll admit it—there was a time when follow-up was the last thing on my mind.

I was busy, juggling the daily demands of running a business, working with clients, and brainstorming new ideas.

Like many, I told myself I didn’t have the time.

But the truth was, I didn’t make the time.

One day, as I looked over my to-do list, I noticed a pattern.

There were names—people I’d met at conferences, through LinkedIn, or at coffee shops—connections I hadn’t followed up with.

There were opportunities I’d started but never finished.

It hit me: I wasn’t just leaving these relationships behind; I was leaving money on the table.

I decided to take action…after all, I’ve written books on time management and teach momentum and productivity!

I had fallen into an “overwhelm pit” where I couldn’t’ even trust myself that I would do the things I said I would do. (Not a good feelings)

The Shift That Changed Everything

I decided to approach follow-up differently—not as a chore, but as a sacred practice.

I blocked time on my calendar, created a simple system, and started reaching out.

What if they didn’t remember me?

What if I was bothering them? (old triggers)

But then, something magical happened.

One email turned into a coffee meeting. A LinkedIn message led to a collaboration. A quick follow-up with an old contact reopened a door I thought had closed.

Little by little, these small acts of reaching out began to snowball.

Within months, my income rose substantially.

Why Follow-Up Works

Follow-up is more than just checking in—it’s about reigniting opportunities and deepening connections.

It’s about showing people you care enough to circle back.

Most importantly, it’s about trusting that the seeds you’ve planted will grow when you water them.

I realized I didn’t need to chase new opportunities constantly. The opportunities were already in my world, waiting for me to nurture them.

How You Can Start

  1. Get Organized

Write down a list of people to follow up with. Start small—just five names.

  1. Make It a Priority
Block off time for follow-up each week. It doesn’t need to be hours—just 30 focused minutes can work wonders.
  1. Speak from the Heart
Your message doesn’t need to be perfect. A simple, genuine “I’ve been thinking about you” can open doors.
  1. Stay Consistent
The magic is in the follow-through. Keep showing up, even if the results aren’t instant.

The Results Speak for Themselves

That simple decision deepened relationships, expanded my network, and gave me confidence in the power of consistency.

Follow-up isn’t just about making money—it’s about showing up for the people and opportunities in your life.

And when you do that, the abundance flows naturally.

I’ll be leading a fre*e live seminar on just this topic in January.
